Arthur Roy (Royce) Smith, known to all as Art Royce, 54, co-owner of Coast Media Teleproductions, Inc., passed away on May 31st at his mountain home in Running Springs, California. He was a longtime member of ITVA, the predecessor of MCAI and well loved throughout the industry.
Art was a true Renaissance man...able to fix anything. He was a talented musician and singer, an avid boater and fisherman, and a truly gifted director and producer of video and film production. Born May 16th, 1955 in Hollywood, California, Art and his wife Joyce operated Coast Media Teleproductions for 22 years, creating numerous television shows and commercials - many of them automotive-themed - and received numerous awards for their work over the years. Art also wrote screenplays and orchestrated, produced and directed live concerts and award shows at the Kodak Theatre. The two of them started the company with nothing but a wing and a prayer and developed it into a multi-million dollar business.
He is survived by his loving wife Joyce, his parents Roy and Flo, his sister Loreli Carobolante, his brother Donovan, his two children Jacki and Chris, his grandchildren Taylor, Chance, Jace, Aden and Addison, his niece Amber, his nephew Robbie, his step children Brian Tully and Jenifer Buckley, and his beloved dog Bailey Irish Cream. Art will be greatly missed both by his family and the many fellow professionals whose lives he touched.
Art requested that in lieu of flowers you send a donation to a very dear couple that has a memorial fund established. Please make checks payable to St. James Davis Fund and send all donations care of Coast Media Teleproductions at 17062 Murphy Ave. Bldg. B, Irvine, CA 92614.
